Blockchain Technology in the Food Supply Chain

Abstract: This paper explains about the feasibility of Blockchain Technology in food organization. The technology of BCT helps the organizations to achieve integrity among peer-to-peer nodes, such as maintaining proof of work, reducing intermediaries, traceability, etc. It can be applied in the BCT at different levels of Supply Chain Management processes. This empirical study was conducted with the help of the primary data. The data was collected from food industry managers who have knowledge about the BCT in the proces… Show more

“…This can be used in conjunction with identification technologies, such as RFID tags, or QR codes to pursue two objectives. Firstly, the simplification of transactions (David et al, 2022;Kamble et al, 2020b). This type of supply chain typically involves numerous actors across different countries and generates complex products and money flows.…”

“…Events such as natural disasters (Campbell & Jones, 2011), economic recessions (Duquenne & Vlontzos, 2014), political unrest (Ashraf et al, 2015), pandemics, etc. (Chou et al, 2004; David, 2003) often disrupt supply chains. We, in this article, emphasise that consumers interact with a supply chain through retail stores, and such interaction (customer interface) was affected during the period of COVID-19.…”

“…Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) is an effective approach for the chemical characterization and screening of agricultural crops. David et al [ 25 ] depict the importance of blockchain technology feasibility in FSCM. With the help of this, organizations can achieve integrity among connected nodes, such as proof of work maintenance, needs, traceability, innovation to reduce intermediaries, and so on.…”
