Bone repair in defects filled with AH Plus sealer and different concentrations of MTA: a study in rat tibiae

Abstract: Objectives This study aimed to evaluate the effects on bone repair of different concentrations of mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) added to AH Plus. Materials and Methods Bone tissue reactions were evaluated in 30 rats ( Rattus norvegicus ) after 7 and 30 days. In the AH + MTA10, AH + MTA20, and AH + MTA30 groups, defects in the tibiae were filled with AH Plus with MTA in proportions of 10%, 20% and 30%, respectively; in the MTA-FILL group, MT… Show more

“…The volume of the solidified paste is basically the same. There is no change in the above, the stability is good, and there is no large thermal expansion and contraction [18]. AH-Plus paste has good spatial stability and fluidity and can conform to the shape of the root canal after forming.…”

“…The tissue implantation experiments of sealers were divided into two types: soft tissue implantation [20,[49][50][51][52][53][54][55][56] and bone tissue implantation [49,57]. Soft tissue implantation was to embed the fresh and sterile sealer in the subcutaneous connective tissue of animals and usually selected the tissue of the animal's back.…”

“…Non-surgical root canal treatment involves the removal of necrotic tissue, cleaning and decontaminating of the root canal and placement of a compatible material with human tissues that seals and promotes repair, which is usually the gutta percha cone with an endodontic filling sealer [ 6 , 7 ]. Endodontic sealers are materials that fill the space between the dentin walls and gutta-percha points along the entire root canal [ 8 ]. Their properties should include dimensional stability, biological sealing and biocompatibility with the adjacent tissues [ 9 ].…”
