Boron Diiminate with Aggregation‐Induced Emission and Crystallization‐Induced Emission‐Enhancement Characteristics

Abstract: Organoboron complexes having aggregation- and crystalization-induced emission properties are presented. The series of boron diiminates were synthesized and the emission behaviors of the synthesized compounds were investigated. Finally, it was found that significant enhancement of the emission depended on the crystallinity in the solid states.

“…54 Similar to ketoiminates, diiminates also exhibited AIE properties. The emission spectra showed marginal luminescence in THF (Φo0.01), while crystallization led to large increases in the emission intensities; these results clearly indicate that synthesized boron diiminates are AIE-active molecules.…”

“…Interestingly, boron diiminate derivatives exhibited not only AIE characteristics but also CIE characteristics (in THF: PL quantum efficiency Φ lum < 0.01, in the crystal states: Φ lum = 0.110.23, in the amorphous states: Φ lum = 0.02). 28 CIE is a strong emission of a π-conjugated system and can be induced efficiently only in the crystal states. Tang et al originally presented CIE-active organic compounds.…”

“…20 As some the examples, we demonstrate boron compounds and POSS materials here. By using boron compounds as one of functional units of element-blocks, the resulting materials showed unique properties, such as high electron transportation 21,22 and near-infrared (NIR) luminescence, 2325 aggregation-induced emission (AIE) 2639 and crystallization-induced emission (CIE) 28,4043 properties. In the case of POSS materials, we succeeded in preparing room-temperature ionic liquids (ILs) exhibiting good thermal stability for the first time.…”

“…[6][7][8] Recently, the aggregation induced emission (AIE) characteristics of small molecules and polymers has been proposed. [9][10][11][12] Tetraphenylethene (TPE) [13][14][15] with its propellershaped structure is one of the most studied examples for aggregation induced emission characteristics. Very recently, the TPE based molecules have been synthesized and investigated by Misra et al [16][17][18] The rational molecular design of the TPE based molecules makes it potential uses in non-doped OLEDs with a good color contrast.…”
