Box Behnken Design in the Optimization of Rhodamine B Adsorption onto Activated Carbon Prepared from Delonix regia Seeds and Pods

Abstract: The uptake of Rhodamine B (RhB) dye onto chemically prepared activated carbon from Delonix regia pods (DPAC) and seeds (DSAC) by response surface methodology was investigated. The activated carbons were prepared with 1 M nitric acid and characterized by BET FTIR, SEM and EDX. The results obtained revealed that the prepared activated carbons DPAC and DSAC with pore diameter 4.04 nm and 3.48 nm respectively possess mesoporous structures. Optimization of the four operating variables viz; concentration, adsorbent … Show more

“…Figure 1b depicts the device structure of the proposed device. Here, the DRFs/PTFE device had been studied in different sizes (9,16, and 20 cm 2 ) also the 20 cm 2 device was performed with different separation distances (2, 4, and 6 mm). The pictorial images are presented in Figure S1, Supporting Information.…”

“…[4,13,14] However, DRFs is an attractive flowering species that belongs to the family of fabaceae, subfamily caesalpinoideae, often known as royal poinciana. [15][16][17] It grows onto the red peacock flowering ornamental tree (10-18 m). D. regia flowering species is growing in the early summer in Madagascar, India, Qatar, Africa, and Northern Australia as semi-deciduous trees.…”

“…The simultaneous effect of contact time and dosage on the response surface for the amount of p-NA uptake by TiO 2 -FSAC at constant pH and initial p-NA concentration is presented in Figure 9. These two parameters have an antagonistic effect on the quantity of p-NA removed by TiO 2 -FSAC [28] . It can be seen that the quantity of p-NA adsorbed is at the highest at a low dosage of 0.10 g TiO 2 -FSAC and very rapid at the begin of the process.…”
