The main aim of the survey was to describe the diversity and richness of Chilopoda in the selected area of the Bug River valley. The study sites were located in two regions differing in the shape of the valley, the presence of thermophilous habitats and the size of riparian forests. Pitfall traps were used as a sampling method. As a result, 444 specimens belonging to 12 centipede species of two orders – Geophilomorpha (four species) and Lithobiomorpha (eight species) were caught. Lithobius (Monotarsobius) curtipes C.L.Koch, 1847, Pachymerium ferrugineum (C.L.Koch, 1835), Lamyctes (Lamyctes) emarginatus (Newport, 1844) and Lithobius (Monotarsobius) dudichi Loksa, 1947 were the most common and the most numerous species. Of particular note is Lithobius dudichi found in Poland for the first time and previously known based on a single specimen. Two to 10 Chilopoda species were found in each habitat under investigation. The greatest species richness was found in thermophilous thickets (10 species), sandy grasslands (eight), xerothermic grasslands (eight) and mesic meadows (six). The fewest number of species (two) was found in rushes at oxbows and in wet meadows. We found differences in the species composition and the number of Chilopoda between the lower (102 specimens, six species) and the middle (324 specimens, 11 species) section of the river valley. Our results confirm the need to protect xerothermic habitats, unique almost throughout entire Central Europe, which due to their distribution and their small area covered are fairly easily subject to the process of destruction.

Гудим3 6 Дніпропетровський національний університет імені Олеся Гончара, Дніпропетровськ, УкраїнаДосліджено сезонну динаміку чисельності та біотопічного розподілу двопарноногої багатоніжки Brachyiulus jawlowskii Lohmander, 1928 на арені р. Дніпро (у межах природного заповідника «Дніпровсько-Орільський»). Розглянуто основні типи біогеоценозів арени, які характеризуються надмірним або помірним рівнем зволоження едафотопів: піщаний степ, чорнокленовники, соснові насадження, широколистяний ліс, луки та болото. B. jawlowskii заселяє всі досліджені біотопи в межах арени р. Дніпро, що характеризує його як екологічно пластичний вид. У болотних та лучних біотопах вид характеризується високим рівнем чисельності. B. jawlowskii відіграє найбільшу роль в угрупованні герпертобіонтів болотних біотопів та у діброві (6,7% та 4,6% відповідно), в інших типах біотопів частка цього виду в угрупованні становить 0,1-3,5%. У степовій зоні України екосистеми перебувають в умовах значного антропогенного впливу, а в природних заповідниках цей вплив мінімізований, що дозволяє дослідити природні режими динаміки популяції. Розглядаючи чисельність B. jawlowskii, можна виділили три періоди: весняно-літній, літній та осінній. Кожен із цих періодів характеризується різною динамічною чисельністю, але в цілому популяція B. jawlowskii досить стійка. Це зумовлено перерозподілом чисельності особин у широкому біотопічному діапазоні досліджуваної території. КлючовіWe have researched the population dynamics of Brachyiulus jawlowskii Lohmander, 1928 in the arena of the Dnepr river (within the "Dnieper-Orilsky" Nature Reserve) and also present a full picture of the habitat distribution of Julidae within the researched area. The tested models were basic types of arena biogeocenosis: sand steppe, black maple forests, artificial pine plantations, deciduous forest, meadow and swamp. Variation in population density of B. jawlowskii is determined by biotopical features. The swamp and meadow habitats can be characterized by the highest level of population dynamics. B. jawlowskii plays the greatest role in the herpetobiont grouping in swamp and oak forest habitats (6.7% and 4.6% respectively). In other types of habitat this species composes 0.1-3.5% of the total abundance of this group. The highest abundance dynamic was reached by the Julidae cenopopulations which inhabit the swamp, oak forest and meadow habitats. B. jawlowskii occupies a relatively significant share in the herpetobiont communities of these habitats. Thus, the indicators of absolute number of this species and its relative participation in the herpertobiont grouping indicate the preference of this species for marsh, oak forest and meadow habitats. These habitats can be characterized by an excessive or moderate level of edaphotopic humidification. The ecosystem of the steppe zone of Ukraine is subject to significant human impact.
