“…The powdered Ayurvedic herbal drug mixture used in this patient primarily targets adaptogenic, rejuvenative, aphrodisiac, and general strengthening as well as strengthening of the reproductive tissues; it helps enhancing digestion and cognition and has mild anxiolytic and antidepressant properties ( W. somnifera [50,51,52,53,54,55], A. racemosus [56,57,58,59,60,61], T. cordifolia [62,63,64,65,] B. monnieri [66,67,68,69,70])[. ]…”

“…This includes not only synthetic chemicals but also naturally derived compounds [46,47]. The latter not only includes isolated naturally occurring compounds but also the identification and use of, e.g., plants and herbs used in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and ayurvedic medicine native to the Indian subcontinent [47-50]. Natural product extracts can function as disease-modifying therapies, but this potential has rarely been critically evaluated in vivo ; and as traditional medicines, many TCM and ayurvedic products have not been tested in rigorous scientific studies and clinical trials.…”

“…For example, polyphenolic compounds in the extracts might function as anti-aggregation agents or anti-oxidants, and plant sterols could have numerous neuroprotective actions or anti-inflammatory actions and possibly directly impact Aβ production [50,53,54]. Thus, it is entirely possible that an extract could prove more efficacious in vivo because it contains multiple agents that target multiple pathologies.…”

“…B monnieri is also a good source of elements (Łojewski et al 2014). The currently used, standardized extract of Bacopa, is CDRI-08 (Singh 2013). This paper presents a study of the optimal culture medium for the effective enhancement of the production of metabolites in B. monnieri.…”
