“…The PT conversion efficiency (PCE) was calculated to be around 32% (Figure 2e), comparable to that of black phosphorus (31%). [ 19 ] After five cycles of heating and cooling tests, GDY maintained a similar peak‐like pattern of temperature alterations without significant decrease of the highest temperature, suggesting its good resistance to light‐mediated bleaching or degradation (Figure 2f). The exhibited PT characteristics of GDY nanosheets potentiated their usage in local heating for downstream applications in BBB permeation studies.…”

“…One of the advantages associated with PT therapy is the intelligent light‐controlled local hyperthermia which facilitates the permeation of BBB. [ 18 ] Similar to previous reports, [ 19 ] a Transwell plate with bEnd.3 cells in the upper chamber was used to evaluate the permeation ability of GDY‐PEG and GDY‐MN independently upon NIR illumination. Our results showed that there was a significant increase of endothelial cell permeability when upper chambers were treated with GDY‐PEG‐Cy7 and exposed to NIR irradiation, as compared to non‐NIR irradiated or PEG‐Cy7 only group (Figure 4e).…”

“…However, low bioavailability and difficulty in crossing the blood-brain barrier limited paeoniflorin's therapeutic efficacy. In 2020, a kind of paeoniflorin polyamide nanocrystal and a new dosage form containing brain targeting ligand lactoferrin (Lf) and paeoniflorin (Pae) loaded in black phosphorus nanoplates were reported [ 56 , 57 ]. These dosage forms could help paeoniflorin cross the blood-brain barrier and have good biocompatibility and biosafety.…”
