BRAINS: Joint Bandwidth-Relay Allocation in Multihoming Cooperative D2D Networks

Abstract: As an emerging technique, cooperative device to device (CD2D) communication has been considered to be a solution to capacity shortage problem. Combining multi-homing and CD2D techniques together can potentially improve network performance. We propose a novel multi-homing CD2D (MH-CD2D) network, in which multiple homing mobile devices (MMDs) act as relays for the cooperative communications of ordinary mobile devices (OMDs). We formulate such joint bandwidth-relay allocation problem as a two-stage game, in order… Show more

“…However, with a revolution in the mobile technology, nowadays, multiple radio interfaces are available in the mobile devices, which can be used to access various types of networks such as wireless local area networks (WLANs), Bluetooth, Zigbee in addition to cellular networks. Simultaneous access of multiple wireless access networks through multiple radio interface is known as multi‐homing (MH) . In MH‐D2D communication, the two devices in D2D pair can communicate over two or more interfaces as shown in Figure .…”

“…Simultaneous access of multiple wireless access networks through multiple radio interface is known as multi-homing (MH). 29 In MH-D2D communication, the two devices in D2D pair can communicate over two or more interfaces as shown in Figure 1. Recently, another type of D2D communication has been proposed in the work of Shakir et al, 30 which shows that many source devices are sending data to one receiver/sink device on multiple radio interfaces.…”
