Abstract:Engineered RNAs have applications in diverse fields, from biomedical to environmental. In many cases, folding of the RNA is critical to its function. Here we describe a strategy to improve the folding kinetics of a riboswitch-based fluorescent biosensor. Systematic mutagenesis was performed to either make transpose or transition base pair mutants or introduce orthogonal unnatural base pairs (UBP). Both natural and unnatural base pair mutants were found to improve biosensor response kinetics without compromisin… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
