Pencak silat is one of Indonesia's cultural identities, recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage. Apart from being a martial arts defence, Pencak silat also contains the values of local wisdom textually and contextually. Pencak silat in Indonesia comes from 2 regions: Minangkabau (West Sumatra) and Cimande (West Java). This research discusses the study of martial arts as a medium of self-defence and traditional educational media in Minangkabau, West Sumatra. A Minangkabau youth must learn martial arts and learn to read the Quran in a mosque (surau) as a provision for a man who has grown up if he wanders to other areas. The Minangkabau community in ancient times had two important educational institutions, namely surau and sasaran silat. Location of Surau (masjid) and sasaran silat usually side by side. In surau, young people learn to read the Al-Quran and religious knowledge, while in sasaran silat, they learn martial arts and various arts. Islamic teachings during the Minangkabau community have succeeded for generations in supporting the philosophy of life: 'adat bersandi syara'- syara' bersandi kitabullah'. This philosophy has been ingrained since birth, strengthening the mental health of youth and coloured in the daily life of the Minangkabau people. In other words, the embodiment of Islamic culture folklore minang can be seen in the life of the Minangkabau people. This made Minangkabau martial arts develop and spread in various parts of Indonesia.

Desa Muncar Kabupaten Semarang tengah meneguhkan diri sebagai desa wisata, oleh sebab itu dibutuhkan upaya optimalisasi potensi wisata khususnya kesenian. Permasalahan dalam pengabdian sebagai berikut : 1) Dibutuhkan pengembangan seni Jaran Kepang yang dikemas untuk penyajian kepada wisatawan dan paket eduwisata dengan kriteria yang sesuai dengan ciri seni wisata; 2) Belum adanya tarian untuk anak-anak Desa Muncar yang bersumber dari kesenian daerah setempat. Kedua permasalahan tersebut menjadi latar belakang tim yang bersinergi dengan mahasiswa KKN (melalui program UNNES GIAT Angkatan 1) melakukan optimalisasi potensi khususnya seni tari dengan mengembangkan kesenian Jaran Kepang yang diberi judul Tari Aswa Dirandra dan mengajarkannya kepada anak-anak Desa Muncar. Kegiatan dilaksanakan menggunakan metode penciptaan tari dan metode pelatihan tari yang terdiri atas 3 tahap yaitu pelatihan, pendampingan dan evaluasi. Hasil program yaitu telah terbentuk Tari Aswa Dirandra yang terdiri atas 7 ragam gerak dengan durasi sekitar 10 menit. Anak-anak Muncar sejumlah 10 orang dapat menarikan Tari Aswa Dirandra dengan baik, terbukti pada saat mereka tampil dalam acara Expo Mahasiswa UNNES GIAT 1 dapat membawakan tarian secara baik dengan memenuhi aspek wiraga, wirama dan wirasa. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi tim pengabdi terhadap peserta, dapat disimpulkan bahwa dari 10 peserta terdapat 6 anak memiliki kriteria sangat baik, 3 anak dengan kriteria baik, dan 2 orang anak memiliki kriteria cukup baik. Selain evaluasi individu, pengabdi juga melakukan evaluasi kelompok karena pada dasarnya tari Jaran Kepang merupakan tari kelompok. Oleh sebab itu dibutuhkan kebersamaan dan kekompakan antar penari.

The development of information, communication and technology, as the indicator of the modern era, has much been used by man to satisfy his daily needs. The digital technology, as one of the media, can be easily accessed anytime. The visualization of the story of Panji in the film entitled Panji Semirang as the Gambuh Dancer is the production of a film produced as the result of the collaboration between the Ministry Education and Culture through Balai Pelestarian Nilai Budaya (BPNB) of Bali Province and the Sanggar Seni Satrya Lelana, Batuan, Gianyar with the platform that Indonesiana is one of the creations using the digital technology. The visual audio record, which is commonly presented in the form of the classic performing art, has been transformed to the digital technological domain. The story presented is the time when Galuh Daha and her servant disguises as the Gambuh dancer “Panji Semirang” when the wedding ceremony is organized for Panji and Galuh Ajeng. This strategy can make Panji aware that he is bewitched by Galuh Ajeng. Love is used as the theme of the film; in its dialogues the main characters speak the Old Javanese language and the servants spleak the Balinese language. The actor wears the traditional makeup and clothing. The pictures were taken at the area of Puseh Temple (a cultural heritage), Batuan Village, Gianyar, and at a traditional house located at Negara Village, Batuan, Gianyar. Satires and the other figurative expressions both in the Balinese language and Old Javanese language, as the verbal languages used by the characters, are used to express affirmation, comparison, contrast and allusion.
