Broadband compact smooth horn with flat‐top radiation pattern

Abstract: A broadband compact smooth horn with flat-top radiation pattern is presented in this Letter. Using a large flare angle, the whole length of the horn is reduced to 1.875λ c (λ c is the wavelength of 95 GHz) and the TE 21 mode and higher order electromagnetic modes can be excited to exhibit flat-top radiation performance. The measured radiation pattern of the presented horn can achieve <1 dB amplitude ripple in a beam width range of ±10°at 85-105 GHz (21%) where the reflection coefficient is below −22 dB.
