“…PCA plays an important role in enhancing gas sensor selectivity, which reduces the signal dimension from hundreds of wavelengths within the detection range to only the primary component that produces the most useful information while preserving multiple sensing mechanisms of different wavelengths [93]. Konstantynovski et al [94] use PCA to process signal change rates from physical sensors and corrected resistance value from metal oxide gas sensors. R. Faleh et al [95] use a sensor array based on WO3 gas sensors to detect O3.…”

“…Although functionally successful, micro-reactor systems have found little general acceptance as the conventionally assembled [ 36 ] and MEMS-miniaturized [ 37 ] versions of such systems were relatively complex and incompatible with the low-cost approach generally followed in the MOX sensor field. Notable exceptions to this rule are references [ 38 , 39 , 40 ]. In order to reach wider acceptance of micro-reactor systems we introduce below a novel kind of micro-reactor which avoids the use of micro-valves, which had been the main contributors of complexity in our previous designs.…”

“…Development of reliable gas sensing devices with enhanced detection capabilities is vital for applications such as environmental monitoring, food inspection, and medical diagnostics. Particularly challenging is the detection of hazardous gases such as SO 2 and H 2 S, which originate from geothermal activity, as well as from anthropogenic origins such as the combustion of fossil fuels in power plants or from smelting factories. The serious threat to human life (e.g., acute respiratory issues, nervous system disorders, etc.) and vegetation (e.g., acidic rain) that these gases pose in very small amounts, in the range of ppb and low ppm, has led to strict control measures by regulatory bodies. Hence, the development of chemospecific and highly sensitive sensors is needed to address such issues.…”
