The aim of this research is to assess the effectiveness of implementing gamification models with virtual reality (VR) for plant cultivation techniques in constructing hydroponic circuits. The purpose of this study is to examine the significant differences in effectiveness between the control group and the intervention group when using gamification with virtual reality. The data used consists of test results from 50 respondents, divided into two groups: a control group of 25 students and an intervention group of 25 students. The trial was divided into two different groups. Group 1, the control group, received conventional treatment, which involved lecturers explaining the assembly of hydroponic circuits in class, followed by students practicing the assembly. Group 2, the intervention group, received self-learning treatment that involved the practice of assembling hydroponic circuits using a gamification model with VR. An independent t-test was conducted to determine whether there was a significant effect of applying plant cultivation techniques on assembling hydroponic circuits. The results of the t-test revealed a significant effect of applying the gamification model with VR compared to the conventional model. The application of the gamification model with VR to assemble hydroponic circuits has shown significant effectiveness, with an N-Gain value of 62.47%, whereas the conventional treatment has demonstrated lower effectiveness, with an N-Gain value of 28.24%.

Introduction Malaria in pregnancy is a global public health problem with the majority of its impact seen in sub-Saharan Africa. Pregnant women with malaria infection are at risk of adverse maternal outcomes. In Ghana, malaria in pregnancy accounts for about 17.6% of outpatient department attendance. Ashanti region is among the three regions with the highest malaria prevalence in pregnancy, particularly in the Ejisu Municipality. The study, therefore, assessed the prevalence and determinants of malaria infection among pregnant women seeking antenatal care at the Ejisu Government Hospital in Ghana. Methods A cross-sectional study design with a convenience sampling technique was used to select 140 respondents for the study. Primary data such as age and residence of respondents were collected using a questionnaire and secondary data such as gestational age and Sulphadoxine Pyrimethamine (SP) administration were collected from clients’ maternal health record booklet. Bivariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis were used to assess the association between the malaria infection and the independent variables, and a p-value of < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results The overall prevalence of malaria in pregnancy was 24 (17.1%). Most of the respondents had received counselling and health education 126 (90%), two or more doses of SP 95 (87.2%), Insecticide Treated Net (ITN) 99 (70.7%) and were sleeping under ITN 104 (74.3%). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed a statistically significant association between malaria infection and sleeping under ITN (AOR = 0.05; 95% CI = 0.01–0.28, p< .001), the use of insecticide mosquito spray (AOR = 0.27; 95% CI = 0.09–0.84, p = .045) and reason for not using ITN due to the use of other preventive measures (AOR = 0.06; 95% CI = 0.01–0.61, p = .017). Conclusion There was a high prevalence of malaria infection among study respondents despite the high usage of preventive measures for malaria in this study. It is therefore crucial that stakeholders in malaria control identify effective strategies to curb malaria transmission globally.

Background Oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMDs) are a group of oral lesions or conditions with a higher risk of malignant transformation. OPMD affects 4.47% of people worldwide, with predilection in males. The high tendency of frequent tobacco smoking and alcohol consumption may lead the male motorcycle community to have a higher risk for developing OPMD and malignant transformation. Objectives This article determines the level of knowledge about OPMD within a male motorcycle community. Methods This study uses a survey research design that is a questionnaire-based and descriptive study. Data were obtained using a Google Form, and IBM SPSS was used for analysis. Simple random sampling is the sampling method applied. The total knowledge score is divided into three levels, low (0–4), moderate (5–9), and high (10–15). Results The questionnaire was finished by 60 people entirely. All respondents (100%) were men, and the majority (83.00%) was aged between 20 and 21. A total of 26 respondents (43.30%) had moderate knowledge levels, followed by 21 with high knowledge levels (35.0%), and 13 with low knowledge levels (21.70%). Conclusion The majority of the male motorcycle community (43.30%) has a moderate knowledge level regarding OPMD. This study indicates the need for educational measures to improve awareness regarding OPMD in a high-risk community.
