In this last case, considering geomorphic systems and the related sediment connectivity (Messenzehl, Hoffmann, & Dikau, 2014) as a functional component of ecosystems, the influence on soil development, and consequently on vegetation, could be highly relevant (Seijmonsbergen, Van den Ancker, Jungerius, & Norder, 2019).
