Cancelable Multimodal Biometrics Based on Chaotic Maps

Abstract: Biometric authentication systems raise certain concerns with regard to security, violation of privacy, and storage issues of biometric templates. This paper proposes a protection approach of biometric templates storage in a multimodal biometric system while ensuring both the cancelability of biometric templates and the efficiency of the authentication process. We propose applying a chaotic maps-based transform on the biometric features to address the cancelability issue. We used Logistic map and Torus Automorp… Show more

“…The technique's efficiency, evidenced by metrics like Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR), Structural Similarity Index Measure (SSIM), and NC, indicates its effectiveness in producing high-quality images resistant to various attacks. Ghouzali et al (2021) introduced an approach in their study focusing on preserving the privacy of biometric templates within a multimodal biometric system. The authors aimed to address both the cancelability issue of biometric templates and the efficiency of the authentication process.…”

“…This section compares the performance of the proposed scheme with similar approaches presented in (Ghouzali et al, 2021;Wadood et al, 2020;Aparna & Kishore 2019;Murillo-Escobar et al, 2016). Table 4 summarises the biometric modalities used in these approaches.…”

“…To create cancelable templates, they used a modified discrete Fourier transform and wavelet transformation. Ghouzali et al 14 presented a cancelable multimodal system using face and fingerprint. To create a cancelable template, chaotic maps are used for the face, and the torus automorphism technique is used for the fingerprint.…”
