ABSTRACT:The heart failure (HF) it's a self-limiting and severe condition, of varied etiology, with negative repercussions to the political-economic framework, and to health related life quality (HRLQ) of patients with HF, due to its standard symptoms and effects. Its's believed that due to the reduced cardiorespiratory competence coming for the HF, certain physical limitation levels would be expressed, impairing directly the HRLQ. To evaluate the physical limitation impact in the HRLQ of Heart Failure patients. Cross-sectional study, quantitative, descriptive and analytical character, conducted with patients treated at a Cardiology outpatient clinic from a university hospital. To evaluate the patients was used: characterization questionnaire Clinic and Socioeconomic, Minnesota Living With Heart Failure Questionnaire (MLHFQ) and the Veterans Specific Activity Questionnaire (VSAQ). The data was managed in Microsoft Office Excel® 2010 program, double independent entry. Subsequently imported into Statistical Package for Social Science program (SPSS), version 21.0, which were conducted exploratory analyzes of data from the calculation of simple absolute and percentage frequencies for categorical variables and measures of centrality and dispersion for quantitative variables, as well as parametric testing Pearson correlation, since the normal distribution of variables. In the research were included 108 patients, with a predominance of female participants (50.90%), mean age of 66.55±11.41 years. Regarding the NYHA functional classification at level II (50%) and NYHA III (39.80%) were the most prevalent. The etiologies of HF was the most prevalent Chagas' Heart (50.90%). The MLHFQ showed negative impact of the IC under the HRLQ, which presented a total score of MLHFQ of 51.87±15.74 points. At the physical limitation the VSAQ resulted in an average of 3, 37±1, 41 with bigger impairment to the METS3 (45, 4%). The MLHFQ and VSAQ correlation presented itself negative, moderate to strong and significant (p<0, 01) it results for each domain being: physical (-0,523); emotional (-0.436); nonspecific (-0,411), and MLHFQ's total score (-0,562). It has been confirmed that the greater the degree of heart damage due to HF presents, the lower will be the patient's MET results confirming a physical limitation as a HRLQ's impairing predictor.

Objective: Identify whether Heart Failure (HF) is a predictor of functional dependence for Basic Activities of Daily Living (BADL) in hospitalized elderly. Methods: We investigated medical records and assessed dependence to BADL (by the Katz Index) of 100 elderly admitted to a geriatric ward of a university hospital. In order to verify if HF is a predictor of functional dependence, linear regression analyzes were performed. Results: The prevalence of HF was 21%; 95% of them were dependent for BADLs. Bathing was the most committed ADL. HF is a predictor of dependence in hospitalized elderlies, increasing the chance of functional decline by 5 times (95% CI, 0.94-94.48), the chance of functional deterioration by 3.5 times (95% CI, 1.28-11.66; p <0.02) and reducing 0.79 points in the Katz Index score (p <0.05). Conclusion: HF is a dependency predictor of ADL in hospitalized elderly, who tend to be more dependent, especially for bathing.

RESUMOOBJETIVOS: Avaliar a potencial relação entre classe funcional segundo a New York Heart Association e a fração de ejeção do ventrículo esquerdo em pacientes com doença coronariana candidatos à reabilitação cardíaca. MÉTODOS: Foi realizado um estudo transversal retrospectivo, por meio da análise de prontuários de pacientes com doença coronariana candidatos ao Programa de Reabilitação Cardíaca do Hospital Universitário de Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul. Foram incluídos pacientes de ambos os sexos, com idade entre 50 e 65 anos, sendo excluídos aqueles com insuficiência renal crônica, anemia, ecocardiograma com baixa qualidade de imagem, pacientes com ritmo não sinusal e indivíduos cujos prontuários não apresentavam informações suficientes. A coleta dos dados ocorreu no período de agosto de 2015 a março de 2016, tendo sido extraídas dos prontuários as informações que compuseram as variáveis de interesse, tais como: dados clínicos e demográficos (sexo, idade, comorbidades, diagnóstico clínico, tratamento cirúrgico e medicamentoso), valores da fração de ejeção do ventrículo esquerdo coletados através de ecocardiografia (Doppler convencional e Doppler tecidual) e a classe funcional a partir do teste ergométrico. A análise estatística foi realizada mediante a aplicação do teste de Kruskal-Wallis seguido do post hoc de Dunn. O nível de significância estatística adotado foi de p<0,05. RESULTADOS: Foram avaliados consecutivamente 131 prontuários, sendo que 102 preencheram os critérios de inclusão. A média de idade da amostra foi de 59,23±7,95 anos e 70 (68,63%) pacientes eram do sexo masculino. Ocorreu predomínio da classe funcional I. Observouse relação inversa entre classe funcional e fração de ejeção do ventrículo esquerdo: quanto mais avançada a classe funcional, maior foi o comprometimento do desempenho cardíaco (p=0,036). CONCLUSÕES: Nesta amostra de pacientes com doença coronariana, ingressantes em um programa de reabilitação cardíaca, houve relação inversa entre fração de ejeção do ventrículo esquerdo e progressão da classe funcional. Este achado fornece informações sobre as limitações impostas pela doença na capacidade de exercício e na função cardíaca do paciente e pode auxiliar na elaboração de um programa de treinamento físico.
