Abstract: Surface-canopy forming kelps (Macrocystis pyrifera and Nereocystis luetkeana) can be monitored along the Northeast Pacific coast using remote sensing. These kelp canopies can be submerged by tides and currents, making it difficult to accurately determine their extent with remote sensing techniques.
