Carbon dioxide‐ethane phase equilibrium and densities from experimental measurements and the B‐W‐R equation

Abstract: Liquid composition-total pressure and liquid composition-liquid density data for the carbon dioxide-ethane system were measured at -31.7', -17.8O, -3.9O, and 10.O°C (-25O, Oo, 25O, and 50°F +0.02OF), from 0 to 80 mole yo COz at 10°C and 0 to 10Wj' o COz for the other isotherms. TheBenedict-Webb-Rubin equation of state with a modsed A0 mixing rule was used to correlate the composition-pressure data, with deviations in predicted pressures of only 0.8t70 average and 2% maximum. Vapor-liquid equilibrium compositio… Show more

“…As demonstrated in Figs. 4–6, the experimental data and the VLE data are calculated by the three EOS within the temperature range 230–270 K. The C 2 H 6 ‐CO 2 binary system shows an azeotrope behavior, similar to the previous system studied by some authors 35, 52. The C 2 H 6 ‐CO 2 system exhibits a relatively large positive deviation from Raoult's law, which is the only system we studied, also showing a positive deviation.…”

“…The azeotropic states calculations are those of Teja (1971) and utilized the twenty-six constant Vennix and Kobayashi (1969) equation for methane. The predicted results are compared here with the experimental data of Gugnoni et al (1974).…”
