Abstract: Carbon fibers are primarily used as reinforcing materials to increase the strength and stiffness of advanced composites and are commonly manufactured using polyacrylonitrile (PAN), isotropic pitch, mesophase pitch, or regenerated cellulose as a precursor fiber material.
