Carboxylated Cellulose as a Soft Template Combined with PEDOT Derivatives in [BMIM]Cl: A Competent Biosensor for Detection of Guanine and Uric Acid in the Blood

Abstract: In this paper, carboxylated cellulose (CLC) dissolved in [BMIM]Cl as a soft template combined with the functional group (−NH2, −SH)-grafted poly(3,4-ethylene dioxythiophene) (PEDOT) derivatives was synthesized by an in situ polymerization method. Structural analysis revealed that CLC increased the degree of conjugation of the polymers in the composites and also led to the formation of the fibrous and sheet structure of the composite. The results of the electrochemical performance measurements revealed that t… Show more

“…H. Liu et al 102 showed that the polymer of cellulose (CLC), which is dissolved in [BMIM]Cl, and combined with different functional groups such as –NH 2 , –SH – grafted poly(3,4-ethylene dioxythiophene) (PEDOT), i.e. , PEDOT-MeNH 2 /CLC and PEDOT-MeSH/CLC electrode might be very useful for the detection of guanine (G) and uric acid (UA), respectively, with good selectivity and detection limits.…”

“…Electrochemical methods have unique advantages in the detection of UA due to their advantages of low cost, simple operation, fast response, and high sensitivity. However, in the traditional electrochemical sensing platform, 8 most of the target detection is realized by one single-output signal, which makes the detection results easily affected by various factors, such as the environment, thus affecting the accuracy of the results. Ratiometric sensing technology 9,10 employs two signals during the detection, which can effectively reduce the influence caused by factors such as the environment and significantly exclude detection errors and increase the reliability of detection.…”
