“…Regarding the status of infection, it was examined by the presence of parasite eggs in feces and the worm in the bile duct. Previous studies reported the O. viverrini uterus was filled with eggs after 20–23 days and eggs were detected in the feces on day 26 ( Nithikathkul et al ., 2007 ; Kaewpitoon et al ., 2012 ). The absence of O. viverrini eggs in mice and their presence in hamsters from D28 to D56 in this study suggests the difference in host susceptibility to O. viverrini infection in these two animal models.…”
