Abstract:Inflammation of the pericardium due to either an infectious or non-infectious etiology, which is known as pericarditis. About 1% of hospitalized patients had this illness, and 5% of those patients complained of chest discomfort. About one-third of individuals with acute pericarditis had cardiac involvement, suggesting that the two diseases may have similar etiologies.
