Catalysis by Gold: Isolated Surface Au3+ Ions are Active Sites for Selective Hydrogenation of 1,3‐Butadiene over Au/ZrO2 Catalysts

Abstract: Schon wenige isolierte Au3+‐Ionen (0.02 pro nm2) auf einer ZrO2‐Oberfläche genügen, um hohe katalytische Aktivitäten bei der selektiven Hydrierung von 1,3‐Butadien zu erzielen. Katalytischer Umsatz und massebezogene Aktivität von metallischen Goldnanopartikeln werden um eine bzw. zwei Größenordnungen übertroffen. Zur Herstellung des Katalysators dient eine billige anorganische Quelle, HAuCl4.
