Cationic β-cyclodextrin-modified hybrid magnetic microspheres as chiral selectors for selective chiral absorption of dansyl amino acids

Abstract: Chiral selective magnetic microspheres based on imidazolium cationic-modified β-CD derivatives have been developed for direct enantioseparation of dansyl amino acids.

“…Derivatization strategies not only increase the obtained sensitivity but might also improve the chiral recognition existing in the selectand‐selector system. Although there is a broad variety of derivatization reagents suitable to improve the detection sensitivity, off‐column derivatization with dansyl (DNS) group has been the derivatization agent of choice in recent years to detect chiral amino acids . Just two of the published articles reported the obtained LODs, these being 1–10 × 10 −7 M and 7–200 × 10 −7 M .…”

“…Recently the preparation of a large number of CD-derivatives by MW-assisted CuAAC regioselective cycloadditions has been described. A selected series of derivatives are depicted in Scheme 10 : CD-acryloyl derivative [ 60 61 ], β-CD/dye derivatives [ 31 , 62 64 ], CD-ionic liquid hybrids [ 65 66 ], CD-based iminosugar conjugates [ 67 ], water-soluble CD homo- and heterodimers [ 68 69 ], trimers [ 70 71 ] and oligomers [ 72 ] of α-, β- and γ-CD have all been successfully produced. This wide variety of compounds was obtained in good to excellent yield under MW irradiation (from 20 min to 3 h at 75 °C to 100 °C).…”

“…reported a type of chiral zirconia magnetic nanomaterial and demonstrated an effective separation of different kinds of chiral drugs. Yang and co‐workers prepared a series of magnetic microspheres modified with dendrimers, human serum albumin (HAS), or β‐cyclodextrin (β‐CD) polymer for the chiral separation of drugs and amino acids. Zou et al.…”
