Poor cost performance of construction projects in various developing countries were exposed in the listed studies (Okpala & Aniekwu, 1998;Elinwa & Buba, 1993;Mansfield, et al, 1994;Assaf et al, 1995;Kim & Bajaj 2000), among many others. Also the works of (Ajator, 2014;Ugwu, 2013;Aja, 2013;and Giwa, 1988) not only identified two most common and frequently recurring problems in Nigeria contract execution as (i) cost overruns or excess of final completion cost over contract sum and (2) time and schedule slippages arising from inherent/external project risks but proffered various management strategies.…”
