Cavity loading in gyrotrons: approximate calculations

Abstract

It is well known that the efficiency of gyrotron amplification strongly depends on the field profile inside the cavity; however, the role played by cavity loading is less clear. It is shown here, using some approximations, that the effectof cavity loading appears to be relatively small. The gyrotron interaction mechanism in unusually long cavities is also being investigated.
