CD55 Facilitates Immune Evasion by Borrelia crocidurae, an Agent of Relapsing Fever

Abstract: Borrelia species are causative agents of Lyme disease and relapsing fever infections in humans. B. crocidurae causes one of the most prevalent relapsing fever infections in parts of West Africa. In the endemic regions, B. crocidurae is present in ~17% of the ticks and ~11% of the rodents that serve as reservoirs.
