Abstract:Prolonged and incomplete osteochondral allograft (OCA) osteointegration is consistently cited as a major mechanism for OCA treatment failure. Subrejection immune responses may play roles in this mode of failure. Preimplantation OCA preparation techniques, including subchondral bone drilling, thorough irrigation, and autogenous bone marrow aspirate concentrate saturation, may dampen immune responses and improve OCA osteointegration. This study sought to further characterize potential immune system contributions… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
