Base station Cell planning is an important and complex problem of wireless telecommunication system which its result will affect the performance and cost. In WCDMA system, the performance can be decided with coverage and throughput fulfillment of the cell. This paper investigates how to do base station deployment in a micro-cell of WCDMA system. In cell planning, how to deploy the base station for better performance is a NP-hard optimizing problem, so it needs an optimization algorithm to find the solution. Genetic algorithm is an algorithm that simulates the evaluation process of gene which the process is combined of crossover and mutation processes and is used to solve many optimization problems. In this paper, the optimum solution which the required coverage can be met with least number of base station, location and antenna heights for base station deployment by using genetic algorithm is proposed. For future works, the loading and interference of base station can be put together as criteria to evaluate the performance of the cell and obtained a system that can fulfill the coverage and throughput requirement with minimum base stations.
