Abstract:Cellulose nanostructures and composite membranes incorporating nanoscale cellulose have gained attention due to their promising utility in various applications. Cellulose nanocomposites in the forms of aerogels, thin films, and nanopapers have been studied extensively. This review focuses on nanocomposite membranes of cellulose which find uses in desalination, sensing, electrical, and biomedical applications. The presence of abundant hydrogen bonds and easily functionalizable surfaces makes cellulose an approp… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
