CFD Simulation for Separation of Carbon Dioxide-Methane Mixture by Pressure Swing Adsorption

Abstract: A developing technology for gas separations is pressure swing adsorption, which has been proven to be more economical and energy efficient compared to other separation methods like cryogenic distillation and membrane separation. A pressure swing adsorption (PSA) column, with carbon dioxide-methane as feed mixture and 6-FDA based polyimides as the adsorbent, was modeled and simulated in this work. Ansys Fluent 12.1, along with supplementary user defined functions, was used to develop a 2D transient Eulerian lam… Show more

“…This proved the goodness and reliability of Gompertz model in estimating the impact of nano metal oxides on biohydrogen production from the anaerobic digestion of RMWW. Moreover the theoretical maximal values were consistent with their respective experimental equivalents for the both NPs additives which is a clear indication of the fact that other fermentation parameters were also in line with their optimized values(Rambabu et al, 2014). Thus, easy and efficient techniques for biohydrogen production enrichment would transfer the fermentation technology from lab scale to industrial scale to cater the growing energy demand.…”

“…The 2D and 3D design for the fixed bed adsorption model is illustrated in Figure 1 and 2, respectively. Similar geometrical model was widely used to measure the adsorption inside a packed bed reactor and achieved similar result with experimental study [14][15][16][17][18].…”

“…The addition of Fe-NPs has been extensively introduced in the PES matrix to produce composite membranes. For instance, ref. 91 prepared a PES/Fe-NP HF membrane by introducing magnetite NPs in the PES matrix, which led to an improvement in hydrophilicity with the WCA decreasing from 62.22° to 49.27° when the content of NPs was 2 wt%.…”
