Challenges and Opportunities in Designing Medical Learning Support Tools for Clinical Student Groups in the Global South

Abstract

Designing effective learning tools for medical student groups in the Global South presents a unique set of challenges and opportunities. This is because educational environments in these regions are shaped by factors such as limited resources, varying access to technology, and distinct socio-cultural dynamics [11, 15]. Hence, these conditions influence the development of tools that can meaningfully enhance education [10], particularly in professional fields like medicine. This article provides an overview of our work in designing and evaluating a learning support tool specifically tailored for medical students in Nigeria, exploring key design considerations, challenges, and future directions.
