Aim: The aim of the article was to assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the employment rate of parents receiving a child benefit from the Family 500+ program. Methods: The study used a set of scientific methods, including generalization, theoretical and methodological analysis and synthesis. The real value of the childcare benefit was calculated. Results: The introduction of the “Family 500+” program resulted in an increase in spending on family policy. These transfers contributed to the improvement of the financial situation of the families. Therefore, the role of the child benefit in reducing poverty among families with children is decreasing, which can be seen especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. At the beginning of the pandemic, the total employment rate of parents fell. Households with one child were particularly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Conclusions: Based on the obtained results, recommendations were presented for the social policy.

The purpose of this study is to analyse the professional activity of parents who receive the Family 500+ educational benefit. Eligibility for this benefit in the first three years of the programme was dependent on family income and the number of children. Research shows that the highest level of professional activity was among parents who had one child and they did not receive a child benefit. Parents who received a 500+ benefit and had two or more children were more active in the labour market than parents with one child. An increase was also found in the number of economically inactive people not seeking work for reasons related to running a home and caring for family members, especially among people living in the countryside.

In this article, we will analyse the effects of public spending on education on productivity, wages, and growth at European Union level. We are trying to find out to what extent education expenditures and human capital contribute to improving productivity, achieving higher wages, and enhancing the standard of living of the population, as measured by per capita growth. Our results do not show a clear and direct relationship between public expenditure on education and productivity, but an indirect relationship through the acquisition of a higher level of human capital and technological skills, which leads to output increases.
