Changes of Serum Adiponectin and Glycated Albumin Levels in Gestational Diabetes Mellitus Patients and Their Relationship with Insulin Resistance

Abstract: Background: We aimed to investigate the changes of serum adiponectin and glycated albumin (GA) levels in gestational diabetes mellitus patients and their relationship with insulin resistance. Methods: Overall, 137 pregnant women were enrolled from Jinan City People's Hospital, Laiwu District, China from Jan 2015 to Jun 2018. Among them, 71 pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus were examined as diabetes group, and 66 normal pregnant women as normal pregnant women group. In addition, 58… Show more

“…Diabetes mellitus, a pervasive chronic disease, poses a substantial threat to public health, with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) being its primary manifestation, predominantly driven by IR. Recent insights suggest that Th1 cytokines may play a pivotal role in the development of insulin resistance [1][2][3][4][5][6] . This discussion explores the intricate relationship between serum Th1 cytokines and insulin resistance in diabetes.…”

“…The precise mechanism by which serum Th1 cytokines contribute to insulin resistance remains incompletely understood [8] . Nevertheless, multiple studies propose that these cytokines may influence the insulin sensitivity of adipose tissue by regulating the secretion of adipokines [9][10][11] . For instance, IFN-γ can stimulate adipocytes to release resistin, a recognized mediator of IR.…”

“…Therefore, the prevention and treatment of GDM is of great importance to women's health. The prevalence of GDM in the Chinese population is about 12%-18% [1][2][3][4][5][6] . In recent years, with the increased incidence of glucose metabolism abnormalities in pregnancy, GDM has become a major factor affecting the health of both mother and child.…”
