The railway system can fulfil society's current and future transportation goals; compared to other transport modes, it does that with high energy, space and resource efficiency. It can deliver high-quality transport services, superior speed, safety and comfort to most competing modes. Nevertheless, its share of the total traffic is often relatively small. This study examines new technologies, their challenges and opportunities for the railway system to understand possible futures of the railway systems, allowing it to prepare ahead of time to prepare and exploit its competitive strengths and possible technological developments. In this paper, we report on multi-stage interviews of 30 experts concerning a holistic technological view of the railway system. The surveyed experts reported on perspectives from the railway operator, industry and research from Switzerland and Europe. The outcomes were categorized into supply, operation and technology aspects and evaluated by their potential for improvement, system impact of the changes, time horizon of possible implementation, and effects on modal shift. The results show that many aspects contribute to the further development of the technologies, but no single game changer could be identified. Developments are expected in automation; revolutionary changes are perceived as unlikely.

This research aims to develop a Decision Support System (DSS) that can assist in selecting the best bus for tourism purposes in Toraja. The objective of this research is to facilitate the decision-making process for prospective tourists who want to use buses as their means of transportation during their visit to Toraja. The method employed in this research is the Weighted Product (WP) method. This method was chosen due to its ability to handle multi-criteria, enabling selection based on various relevant factors such as price, service quality, bus capacity, operational schedule, and level of comfort. Furthermore, the collected data will be inputted into the developed DSS using the WP method. The DSS will calculate relative scores for each bus based on the predetermined criteria weights. The results of this research are expected to provide objective and accurate recommendations for selecting the best bus. These recommendations can serve as a guide for prospective tourists in choosing a bus that suits their needs and preferences. Additionally, this research can also provide valuable insights for bus operators in improving service quality and customer satisfaction.

Smarter mode of transportation (SMT) rely heavily on real-time traffic management. Safety on the roads is only one of many benefits brought forth by advancements in dynamic traffic management systems for congested metropolitan areas. In this study, we present the design and implementation of a Bayesian Belief Networks (BBN) traffic control system that is both flexible and reliable. The use of knowledge-based systems as a framework for making decisions in real-time has gained widespread acceptance. Since traditional dynamic controllers relied on sensors with their own set of drawbacks, we may employ vision sensors (such as cameras) to get around these problems. Computing based on images and videos is very useful for gauging traffic volumes. The present traffic management system at the road junction was found wanting, thus a new system was developed and put into place to alleviate the congestion. Lab VIEW and MATLAB are used to measure how well the suggested framework works. Extensive simulations utilizing the suggested method show that it reduces waiting time and speeds up movement on average compared to controllers employing traditional sensors.
