Abstract:This article presents Chapter 14, Electrical Protection, of the AWWA Committee Report on the Design and Installation of Steel Water Pipe. The chapter discusses theoretical considerations, cell action on pipelines, current required, design of cathodic protection system, soil resistivity, chemical analysis of soils, hydrogen ion concentration, biochemical corrosion, cathodic protection power units, anode or ground bed installation, galvanic anode protection, bonding, and good practice.
