Characteristic analysis of surface waves in a sensitive plasma absorption probe

Abstract: With features that are simple to construct and a symmetric configuration, the sensitive plasma absorption probe (SPAP) is a dependable probe for industry plasma diagnosis. The minimum peak in the characteristic curve of the coefficient of reflection stems from the surface wave resonance in plasma. We use numerical simulation methods to analyse the details of the excitation and propagation of these surface waves. With this method, the electromagnetic field structure and the resonance and propagation characteris… Show more

“…According to whether the diagnostic equipment is involved in the plasma, microwave diagnostic methods can be divided into two types: interventional and non-interventional. Interventional microwave diagnosis methods include the microwave resonance probe [20], plasma absorption probe [21,22], plasma impedance probe [23,24], and so on. They all penetrate the tested probe deep into the plasma, so that the measured electron density has a high spatial resolution.…”

“…In recent years, the interaction between electromagnetic wave and plasma has received wide attention, for it has important applications in military, aeronautics, and industry, specifically, in plasma stealth, [1,2] communication blackout during atmospheric reentry, [3,4] and plasma diagnosis. [5,6] etc. The methods of computing the interaction of electromagnetic wave and plasma was developed by many researchers.…”
