“…An one-step growth assay was performed according to a previously published method [22]. Bacterial culture (10 6 colony-forming units (CFU)/mL) of S. aureus 1056-1 was mixed with phage lysate at a multiplicity of infection (MOI) of 0.001, and then incubated for 10 min at 37 °C.…”

“…So far, only 11 Alteromonas phages have been isolated and deposited into GenBank, including five siphoviruses, four podoviruses, two autographiviruses, one myovirus, and one unclassified virus. The five Siphoviridae phages, including JH01, P24, PB15, XX1924, and vB_AcoS-R7M ( 29 32 ), were all isolated from the coastal water of China. Among those siphoviruses, vB_AcoS-R7M was found to share a set of similar characteristics with a number of siphophages infecting diverse aquatic opportunistic copiotrophs and inspired the creation of a new subfamily, Queuovirinae ( 32 ).…”

“…The first Alteromonas phages characterized were isolated from western Mediterranean coastal waters and identified as a new genus within the Podoviridae family (17). An Alteromonas-targeting Podoviridae phage isolated from the North Sea (18) has been used as a biological tracer in hydrological transport studies (19), and finally two Alteromonas phages belonging to the Siphoviridae family have been isolated from the western Yellow Sea (20,21). These (seven in total) are the only Alteromonas phages isolated and characterized to date.…”
