Characterization and phylogenetic analysis of the mitochondrial genome of Sarcocheilichthys sinensis (Bleeker) from Baima Hu Lake

Abstract: Sarcocheilichthys sinensis (Bleeker), is a small-sized benthopelagic fish with ornamental value. In the present study, the complete mitochondrial genome of S. sinensis was sequenced and determined. The complete mitogenome of S. sinensis was 16,683 bp in length, consisting of 22 tRNA genes, 13 proteincoding genes, 2 rRNA genes, and 2 non-coding regions. The overall base composition of the S. sinensis mitogenome is 30.50% A, 26.28% T, 26.60% C, and 16.61% G, exhibiting obvious AT bias (56.79%). The phylogenetic … Show more

“…In the NADH dehydrogenase subunit, 6 (nd6) gene and 8 tRNA genes are encoded on the light strand (tRNA Gln , tRNA Ala , tRNA Asn , tRNA Cys , tRNA Tyr , tRNA Ser , tRNA Glu , and tRNA Pro ). The overall base composition is 30.15% A, 26.71% C, 16.81% G, and 26.33% T with 56.48% A þ T, which is similar to the base content and AT bias of other vertebrate mitogenomes (Saccone et al 1999;Lee and Song 2016;Gong et al 2020).…”
