Characterization of Bio-Polymer Composite Thin Film Based on Banana Peel and Egg Shell

Abstract: This research study of xrd characterization analysis of organic filler comprise waste banana peel and waste egg shell as matrix and reinforcement in bio-composite thin film. Banana peel fibers exhibit good renewable material for the substitution of bio based composite. The banana peel and egg shell were separately cut into smaller pieces and boiled for 20 min before drying in oven at temperature 80 ˚C for 30 min. These pieces were then ground using mechanical blender into fine powder sizes ranging from 80-100 … Show more

“…Eggshell consists of 95% calcium carbonate (CaCO₃) as its main component and it is in the form of calcite. In CaCO3, calcite is the most stable component that forms elongated structures called columns, crystallite, or palisade [6]. Besides that, the remaining 5% of other inorganic materials in the eggshell are calcium phosphate, magnesium carbonate, and soluble and insoluble proteins.…”

“…Nik Yusuf et al (2018) discutiram uma técnica para processamento de filme fino biopolímero usando resíduos de cascas de banana e CaCO3 extraído de resíduos de casca de ovo. A análise de DRX confirmou que este filme fino de biocompósito mostrou padrão amorfo de casca de banana e a presença de cobre, lítio e silício contém pequeno número de cristalinidade de 29,1%.…”

“…The interaction between different elements of the brake pad material was seen in the range of 4000 to 500 cm -1 , indicating a band spectrum of banana fiber, eggshell, phenolic resin, and other elements. Based on the results of FTIR analysis, the five brake-pad specimens had absorption bands in the range of 3395-3000 cm -1 which is a characteristic of O-H stretching vibrations [26] (see Figures 2(a-e)).…”
