Characterization of Dental Pulp Stem Cells of Human Tooth Germs

Abstract: In previous studies, human dental pulp stem cells (hDPSCs) were mainly isolated from adults. In this present study, we characterized hDPSCs isolated from an earlier developmental stage to evaluate the potential usage of these cells for tissue-regenerative therapy. hDPSCs isolated at the crown-completed stage showed a higher proliferation rate than those isolated at a later stage. When the cells from either group were cultured in medium promoting differentiation toward cells of the osteo/odontoblastic lineage, … Show more

“…Isolation of multipotent MSC-like cells from dental follicles, dental pulp, dental papilla and peri-odontal ligaments, all of which originate from the tooth germ, has been successfully achieved by various groups, including our laboratory. [17][18][19][20]23,24,[26][27][28] Unlike earlier reports, in this study we isolated stem cells for the first time from the entire tooth germ, which includes aforementioned tissues. Although we did not compare side-by-side, this approach yielded higher numbers of cells, showing a higher proliferation rate compared with the dental follicle cells we isolated earlier.…”

“…13 Multipotent tooth germ progenitor cells derived from the dental papilla of developing third molars have been successfully differentiated into ecto-dermal and meso-dermal cells and have shown a therapeutic effect on damaged liver. 27 In a recent study, Takeda et al 28 reported that human dental pulp stem cells isolated from earlier stage (crown-completed) tooth development showed higher proliferation rates than those isolated at a later stage (rootcompleted). However, both cell types showed similar osteo/ odonto-blastic differentiation efficiency.…”

“…Therefore, there are many interests in banking person-specific tooth-derived stem cells (Arora et al, 2009;Perry et al, 2008). The proliferation rate of SHED is significantly higher than that of DPSCs and BM-MSCs (Nakamura et al, 2009;Takeda et al, 2008). It is interesting to note that DPSC isolation is possible for at least five days after tooth extraction, which implies that immediate processing after extraction may not be necessary for successful DPSC banking.…”

“…49 Bir farenin immun sistemi baskılanarak sırtına transplante edilen dental pulpa kök hücrelerinin dentin-pulpa kompleksine benzer bir yapı oluşturduğu izlenmiştir.
