Characterization of turbidity water sensor SEN0189 on the changes of total suspended solids in the water

Abstract: Turbidity has an indication that the liquid has been contaminated. In the testing process, turbidity in water can only be measured by sampling. To be able to maintain the quality of water, required a tool that can monitor and measure the level of turbidity of water in real time. water turbidity sensor SEN0189 is a sensor that works by measuring the amount of light from infrared led into the phototransistor that will produce the output voltage on the sensor. The study was conducted to be able to characterize th… Show more

“…Turbidity sensors measure reflected (IR) light at 90 degrees to the source. The infrared phototransistor [11] will have a change in resistance itself and the change of voltage sensor will be obtained. This enables the DF Robot DC 5V TS-300B Turbidity Sensor Module Mixed Water Detection Module Water Quality Test Turbidity Transducer For Arduino connected to the ESP 32 microcontroller to measure the pond water turbidity.…”

“…The analysis of Wang et al [ 14 ] suggests that low-cost turbidity sensing has only recently become viable due to the use of sensors that are orders of magnitude more lower in cost than the previous commercially available options. As part of their work they examined a low-cost, off-the-shelf, commercially available turbidity sensor (SEN0189, Gravity—designed for white-goods), noting that it suffered from accuracy, sensitivity and power issues, rendering them unsuitable for providing reliable in situ measurements, with this view also supported by Hakim et al [ 17 ]. In place of the commercially available unit, Wang et al [ 14 ] proposed a turbidity sensor based on an LED and photodiode (PD).…”
