Characterization of Vanadium and Titanium Oxide Supported SBA-15

Abstract: Supported vanadium and titanium oxide catalysts were prepared by adsorption and subsequent calcination of the vanadyl and titanyl acetylacetonate complexes, respectively, on mesoporous SBA-15 by the molecular designed dispersion (MDD) method. Liquid and gas phase depositions at different temperatures were carried out with vanadyl acetylacetonate, and the different results together with those of titanyl acetylacetonate in the liquid phase deposition were discussed. The bonding mechanism, the influence of the me… Show more

“…Furthermore, the broadness of the 915 cm À1 Raman band was attributed to thermal movement of the bound oxygen molecule. Most papers in the literature, however, suggest a Raman band in this area to be a V-O-support vibration [55,56,67,81,82,[85][86][87][88][89]. Our data of the dehydrated catalysts show that the Raman band at 915 cm À1 is present at all vanadium oxide loadings, and since the EXAFS results exclude di-or polymeric species, this eliminates the spectral assignment to a V-O-V vibration.…”

“…Furthermore, it opens the possibility to study catalysis on well-defined, spatially separated transition metal centers. Despite its great potential use for catalytic applications, there have been only few reports on the preparation and application of SBA-15 supported vanadium oxide catalysts [4][5][6][7][8][9].…”

“…Recently, direct synthesis of Ti-substituted SBA-15 with structural integrity under hydrothermal conditions in the absence of acid has also been studied using titanium tetrachloride and tetraethyl orthosilicate as the titanium and silica sources, respectively [9]. In addition, several strategies for the post-synthesis have been used to prepare Ti-containing mesoporous silicas, such as molecular dispersion [10,11], grafting [12][13][14] and impregnation [15][16][17]. These post-synthesis methods, in general, incorporate titanium species both in the pore channel and on the external surface of mesoporous silicas.…”
