Chemical Composition and Antiproliferative Activity of Supercritical CO2 Extracts from Citrus Fruits

Abstract: Supercritical CO 2 extract from fruits of Citrus hassaku Hort ex Tanaka, Citrus iyo Hort. ex Tanaka, and Citrus grandis Osbeck, locally known as phalsak, yeagam, and dangyuja, respectively, in Korea, were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). In total, 70, 79, and 76 compounds were identified in fruits of phalsak, yeagam, and dangyuja respectively. (Z)-9-Octadecenoic acid was the major compound in phalsak, whereas limonene prevailed among the others. α-Terpineol, (E,E)-2,4-decadienal, hexad… Show more

“…As a typical species of TCM, Exocarpium Citri Grandis (ECG) is known for its significant curative effects on pneumonic symptoms ( China CftPoPsRo Committee for the Pharmacopoeia of People’s Republic of China, 2010 ). The most beneficial properties of ECG are strongly associated with its anti-oxidation ( Tao and Liu, 2012 ), anti-bacterial ( Jayaraman et al, 2012 ), and immunoregulation ( Gyawali et al, 2012 ) properties. Composed of eight active ingredients, including ECG (a key constituent), the Juhongtanke oral solution (XiangXue Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd., Guangdong, China) is widely used in clinical practice in China.…”
