“…As a result of consecutive chromatographic methods, seven compounds (1-7) (Figure 1) were purified from the EtOAc and n-BuOH subextracts. The structures were identified as depressine (1) [27], gentiopicroside (2) [28], loganic acid (3) [29], isoorientin (4) [30], isovitexin (5) [31], mangiferin (6) [32] and adenosine (7) [33] by comparison of their spectroscopic data with those reported in the literature. In previous studies, compounds 2-6 were detected in G. asclepiadea extracts by HPLC analysis, while the presence of 1 was tentatively identified [34][35][36].…”

“…Radix Gentiana macrophylla (RGM), the dried roots of G. macrophylla Pall., Gentiana straminea Maxim., Gentiana crassicaulis Duthie ex Burk., and Gentiana dahurica Fisch., is a commonly used TCM with the function of analgesic [17], antioxidant [18], anti‐inflammatory [19], hepato‐protective [20], anti‐atherosclerotic [21], and antitumor [22]. These functions are mainly related to iridoid glycosides [23], flavones [24], sterols [25], and polysaccharide [26]. However, the different rainfall, temperature, and ecological environment lead to a large difference in the content of active ingredients in RGM from different geographical origins [27].…”

“…is widely distributed in alpine meadows, hillside grasslands, thickets and forest margins at altitudes of 2000-4800 m in Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan and Tibet of China. [2,3] Clinically, Gentiana crassicaulis ("Qinjiao" in Chinese) has been utilized for the treatment of rheumatism, arthralgia, apoplexy, jaundice and diabetes for a long time. [4] Phytochemically, various of iridoids, triterpines, sterols, alkaloids and benzoic derivatives have been isolated from Gentiana crassicaulis.…”

“…[8] Meanwhile, owing to the similar iridoid profiling of Gentiana crassicaulis with that of Gentiana macrophylla Pall., Gentiana straminea Maxim., and Gentiana dahurica Fisch., respectively, these four herbs are recorded as the equivalent materials of "Qinjiao" and quality controlled using iridoid compounds as markers. [4,[9][10] On the other hand, our previous research about Qinjiao led to the isolation of miscellaneous compounds with potential anti-inflammatory effect [3,[11][12][13] and determined the species specificity of Gentiana crassicaulis among Gentiana herbs based on characteristic compounds, which indicated the importance of minor iridoids or non-iridoid constituents among Gentiana crassicaulis or "Qinjiao". As the continuing effort for bioactive constituent discovery and chemical profiling of "Qinjiao" herbs, we reported herein three new glycoside constituents macrophyllosides E-G (1-3) and a pair of iridoid glycosides genticrasides A/B (4 a/4 b), together with eleven known compounds from the roots of Gentiana crassicaulis.…”
