Abstract:This review discusses the use of fluorescent probes for identifying, isolating, and monitoring cells and organelles. Fluorescent probes have advantages over antibodies in live‐cell staining due to their small size and ability to penetrate the cellular membrane without fixatives or permeabilizers.
