ChemInform Abstract: An Approach to β‐Lactams from α,β‐Unsaturated Sugar δ‐Lactones.

Abstract: Michael addition of O‐benzylhydroxylamine to the lactone (I) yields the addition product (II) which is transformed into the benzyl ester (III) by saponification and subsequent benzylation.
