Abstract

structure structure (solids and liquids) D 2000 -010Compounds with Layered Structures in the Systems CuGa 5 S 8 /CuIn 5 S 8 and AgGa 5 S 8 /AgIn 5 S 8 .-Samples of composition MGaxIn 5−x S 8 (M: Cu, Ag; 0 ≤ x ≤ 5) are prepared from mixtures of Cu 2 S, Ag 2 S, In 2 S 3 , and Ga 2 S 3 (800 • C, 3 d). They are characterized by single crystal and powder XRD. AgGa 3 In 2 S 8 crystallizes in the hexagonal space group P6 3 mc with Z = 2. The structure is isotypic to the Zn 2 In 2 S 5 (IIa) type.
