Abstract

PPA‐induced ring closure of the tetralinbutanoic acid (II) followed by Reformatsky reaction with the α‐bromo esters (IV), dehydration, and dehydrogenation gives the esters (VII) which are saponified, yielding the title compounds (VIII).
