Abstract:Phosphorus-Centered and Phosphinidene-Capped Tungsten Chloride Clusters.-The new P-centered W6PCl17 (I) cluster compound is prepared by reduction of WCl6 with red phosphorus (evacuated silica tube, 370°C, 24 h; 95% yield estimated from XRD). When the reduction is performed at 500°C, the phosphinidene-capped cluster compound W4(PCl)Cl10 (II) is produced in 95% yield (from XRD).
